Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to several topics of chemistry and physics through a variety of techniques that will promote scientific literacy.  Classroom activities and laboratory experiments will enable the students to become active learners and investigators.  The students will explore concepts that are both relative and meaningful to their lives.  The students will leave this course with a better understanding of physical science concepts and thus become well prepared for their graduation tests in science.

Expectations:
Behavior:  Students are expected to arrive on time and be prepared to start once the bell rings.  Behavior is expected to be appropriate for a mature high school student.  Students are to respect all teachers, staff, and peers.  School rules regarding dress code, tardies, absences, cell phones and electronic equipment will be enforced.  Class time will be used effectively.   Students are expected to work from the beginning of class until they are excused.  The teacher will be the method of excusing students from class, not the bell.
Materials:  3-ring binder, notebook paper, pens/pencils, calculator, graphing paper
Academics:  Students are expected to read assigned sections and be prepared for quizzes the following class.  Students are expected to take notes during class lecture/discussion.  Students are expected to keep up with their homework and have it completed on the date it is due.  Homework should be completed before coming to class and ready to be taken up after the bell rings.  Failure to do so will result in no grade being given.  There are no late grades in this class.  If a student is sick, he/she is responsible to make arrangements with the teacher to make up any assignments missed.
