Pickens High School Dance Class

This course is designed to provide the student the opportunity to learn about and participate in various dance genres. Classical ballet, lyrical ballet, jazz/hip-hop will be taught through out the course of the semester.

Expectations:

• Each student will be expected to participate and dress out daily.
• If a student does not participate, they will be required to copy from the ballet dictionary during class to receive any participation points.
• The students will have written and performance based quizzes throughout the semester.

Grading:

• Students will receive a daily participation grade. You will be required to dress out and particiapte for the entire class in order to recieve the full 5 points for the day.
• The participation grade will be 70% of the total grade, quizzes will be worth 15%, and the final exam will be 15% of the grade for the semester.

Dressing Out:

Students may wear t-shirts that follow the school dress code. Absolutely NO spaghetti strap tank tops in class. Students may wear sweat pants, yoga pants, or shorts. Shorts must be long enough to cover gluteus when bending over.
