Business Procedures is a required class for all freshmen at Pickens High School. The curriculum for this class includes four major units. These units are communication skills, technology literacy, people skills/business savvy, and financial literacy. In addition, keyboarding/skillbuilding lessons and time management principles will be taught and applied in each unit throughout the course.
The keyboarding review/skillbuilder lessons will count 25% of the student’s daily average. Daily assignments will count 50% of their daily average. Comprehensive project grades for each unit will count 25% of the student’s daily average. There will be an exam at the end of the nine weeks that will count 15% of the student’s course grade and their daily average will count 85%.
Students are not allowed to make up work at home unless they are being served by the hospital/homebound program. Therefore, if students are absent they need to plan to stay after school to make up the work.

Accounting is designed to provide students with an understanding of the basic elements and concepts of the double-entry accounting system. The course includes posting, journalizing, preparing financial reports and studying control systems for proprietorships and partnerships.
The student’s daily average for the first and second nine weeks will be comprised of daily work which will count 50% and tests which will count 50%. The student’s course grade will be comprised of their grade for the first nine week grading period which will count 42.5%, their second nine weeks grade which will count 42.5%, and their semester exam will count 15%.
Students may complete daily assignments at home if necessary. If the student misses a test, they will need to come in before or after school to complete the test.

Course Description
Knowing how to use computer applications software is a basic skill for everyone. Students in this course become proficient in word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet software. This course is a prerequisite for all other courses in information technology.
Students are graded on lab assignments. All graded work counts equally. The student’s course grade will be comprised of their grade for the first nine week grading period which will count 42.5%, their second nine weeks grade which will count 42.5%, and their semester exam will count 15%.
