We will abide by the board of education rules of appropriate dress, no visible cell phones and no electronic devices during school hours.
You are expected to have all necessary materials (book, binder, pencil or pen, etc.) and be in the room by the time the tardy bell rings. Students who are tardy to 1st block MUST have a tardy slip for class. When the bell rings, the door will close and lock. I do not allow you to stand beside the door waiting for the dismissal bell. Do not ask me to go to your car for any reason… the answer is NO!
You may leave the room during class only if it is for a very important reason. Before you leave the room take a hall pass. Leave the locked door "cracked" when you leave so you can get back in when you return.
Since you are expected to give your full attention to class, you will not be allowed to do work for other classes in my class. You will not be allowed to put your head down on your desk!
When you return to school after being absent please do the following:
- Find out what you missed. You should arrange to do make-up work after school. Make-up work may be of a different nature from the original work. It should be done ASAP, (within 1 week after your absence.)
A neat and complete binder is required to hold all your class-work /homework. Sometimes you will have a quiz over what you have in your binder and you can look up the answers! Bring your book, binder and something to write with to class everyday!
Homework, class work, quizzes, and labs have equal value in the grade book. Projects and tests count more, depending on their difficulty. Usually tests count 2 times and projects count 3 times. You will have a first nine weeks grade worth 42.5 %, a second nine weeks grade worth 42.5 % and a final exam that counts 15% of your final grade. I do not give extra credit; there are plenty of grades without it. Your grades and averages can be seen on power school at home and I’ll show you in the classroom about every week.
Failure to adhere to class rules can result in a warning/conference, phone call home or being referred to the appropriate administrator.

Zoology is a course for the college bound/tech career prep student. It is the scientific study of animals. It includes process and problem solving, laboratory safety, the study of animals on the cellular level, the chemical basis of life, genetics, invertebrates, vertebrates and comparative anatomy.

The Biology curriculum is designed to continue student investigations of the life sciences that began in grades K-8 and provide students the necessary skills to be proficient in biology. This curriculum includes more abstract concepts such as the interdependence of organisms, the relationship of matter, energy, and organization in living systems, the behavior of organisms, and biological evolution. Students investigate biological concepts through experience in laboratories and field work using the processes of inquiry.
