Northeast Georgia School Superintendent's Scholarship (6 - $500 Scholarships) Must be a graduating Senior who is enrolling in a college or university Fall 2010. The student must complete an application, and submit typed responses to the three prompts at the bottom of the application. The applications are available in the counseling office. You must return the application and your attached responses to Mr. Cain no later than April 1, 2010.
Appalachian Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship - $500 Scholarship. Students submitting and application must plan to enrolled in an accredited college or university during the 2010-2011 academic year. Pursuing an undergraduate degree in agricultural and environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences, a related agricultural field or be actively involved in 4-H and FFA their junior and senior year of high school. Live in Pickens, Cherokee, or Gilmer County. Preferential treatment will be given to member applicants. Application is available in the counseling office. Deadline is April 1, 2010.
United Community Bank – two scholarships to be awarded to Pickens High seniors. Application form available in counseling office. Must include transcript; copy of acceptance letter from college; list of extracurricular activities, honors, and other significant accomplishments; three written personal references, two from school officials and one from an adult outside the school system; essay of 500 words or less detailing your reasons for pursuing this scholarship and your future career objectives. All documents due to Mr. Cain no later than April 2, 2010.
Office Technology Scholarship Sponsored by Appalachian Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals. The International Association of Administrative Professionals gives a scholarship each year to a high school senior that will be entering the business field. Documents to be completed: Office Technology Scholarship Application and Letter of recommendation from a teacher in the business education department. Deadline April 12, 2010
Partners Scholarship – Requires application form (available in counseling office), typed statement setting forth your career objectives, transcript, SAT scores, college acceptance letter if you already have it, and list of extracurricular activities. Return all documents to Mr. Cain no later than April 14, 2010.
ETC Scholarship – Requires application form (available in counseling office), list of other scholarships you are receiving, statement describing your future ambitions and why you are applying for the scholarship, college acceptance letter, list of extracurricular activities, and transcript. Return all documents to Mr. Cain no later than April 14, 2010
Pickens County Board of Realtors Scholarship – Two $500 scholarships awarded to students in Pickens County to attend any college or university in Georgia. Minimum GPA C+ or equivalent. Application form available in counseling office or downloaded from www.pickensrealtors.com. Other required documents include transcript, current photo, three written references (only one can be from a teacher), copy of college acceptance letter, and essay. Recipients must agree to complete 20 hours of approved community service work. The four finalists will be interviewed at school on April 16. Completed application packets due to Mr. Cain in the counseling office no later than April 14, 2010.
Garland Whitfield Memorial Scholarship – for students planning to major in Agriculture, Forestry, Landscape Management, or something SIMILAR. Sponsored by Pickens County Sportsman’s Club. Detailed application packets in counseling office. Must be returned to Mr. Cain no later than April 15, 2010.
Bethel Scholarships at Georgia Tech – for male students who have been accepted at Georgia Tech. Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to qualified young men entering Georgia Tech. in Fall 2008. Get application form in counseling office. Include official transcript. Must be mailed to address on application to be postmarked no later than April 15, 2010.
Robert E. “Bob” Campbell Memorial Scholarship – sponsored by the American Legion, 9th District. $500 scholarship. Based on academic scholarship in “core” subjects on a 4.0 scale. Must be child or grandchild or a military veteran who is or was a member of an American Legion Post in the 9th District. Must be sponsored by a 9th District American Legion Post. Application form available in counseling office. Requires short essay based on questions from application form. Requires SAT scores, official transcript, and written recommendation from high school principal. Deadline: April 15, 2010.
Ed and Jo Jenkins Young Harris College Scholarship – a $3,000 scholarship to Young Harris College. Must be a senior enrolled in the Pickens County School System. Must attend Young Harris College after graduation. Criteria include achieving a GPA that shows marked effort, improvement, or success as well as demonstrating community service or volunteerism. Guideline sheet available in counseling office. Application includes personal statement explaining why you want to attend Young Harris College, two letters of recommendation, and transcript. Completed application packets due to Mr. Cain no later than April 16, 2010.
Sam Whitfield Leadership Scholarship – male students only this year. Next year will be for female students. Must be top 25% of senior class. Information sheet available in counseling office. Include resume of extracurricular activities, honors, and achievements; essay about your leadership role(s); two recommendation letters; transcript; and copy of college acceptance letter. All documents due to Mr. Cain no later than April 16, 2010.
Jasper Banking Company Scholarship: Applications available in counseling office. Requires essay, list of extracurricular activities and honors, references (more details on application form.) All documents due to Mr. Cain by April 21, 2010.
Pickens County Retired Educators Scholarship – $1000 Scholarship for students planning to enter the teaching profession. Must submit and application form, at least two reference letters from teachers, counselors, supervisors, or clergy on their appropriate letterhead in a sealed envelope, Written profile of yourself stressing factors relevant to your occupational choice and goals- stress your personal qualifications for pursuing education as a profession, Official proof of acceptance from the college will attend, Official high school transcript-including SAT/ACT scores. Submit all documents to Mr. Cain no later than April 20, 2010.
Lyda Walden Fletcher Scholarship – Sponsored by The Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia. $1,000 per year for four years. Must have resided in Pickens County at least 24 months prior to graduation from Pickens High School. Minimum GPA 3.5. Must be planning to pursue a four-year degree. Considers academic achievement, leadership potential, well-defined goals and aspirations, balanced extracurricular activities, and financial need. Application forms available in counseling office. Include essay, counselor endorsement letter, two additional recommendation letters, copy of FAFSA, and copy of college acceptance letter. All documents due to Mr. Cain no later than April 22.
Student-View 2010 Scholarship Program – Quick and easy to apply. Log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15 to 20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. To be awarded: One $4,000 scholarship; two $1,000 scholarships; four $500 scholarships. Scholarships awarded via a random drawing from all completed applications. Deadline is April 22, 2010.
Nashville Auto-Diesel College Scholarship – (1) student will be awarded $1,000. Eligibility Requirements: Be graduating member of the current senior class in good standing, Complete a scholarship application, be selected by the Scholarship Committee, Awarded student must be enrolled and enter NADC. Submit all documents to Mr. Cain no later than April 23, 2010
BETA Club Scholarship – Application form is in counseling office. Include statement explaining why you need and/or deserve the scholarship, transcript, and three references. All documents due to Mr. Cain no later than April 23, 2010.
PICKENS STAR LODGE SCHOLARSHIP Each student must submit the following items: Application, Transcript, College acceptance letter, SAT scores, Two letters of recommendation, Essay describing yourself and how the scholarship will meet your academic goals. Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline is April 23, 2010.
The Fountainhead – Essay contest – 1st prize $10,000; 5 second prizes each $2,000. Other prizes of smaller amounts awarded as well. Involves reading the novel and writing an essay on one of the topics given. For more information see the website at www.aynrand.org. Type “Fountainhead” in search bar at top right, then click on first link. Essay must be between 800 and 1,600 words in length, typewritten, and double-spaced. Must be postmarked no later than April 26, 2010.
G.D. Mosley Automotive Scholarship – At Appalachian Tech. For a graduating senior from Gilmer or Pickens High School who plans to enroll full-time in the Automotive Technology program or a full-time App. Tech student pursuing a career in the automotive technology field. Three $500 scholarships to be awarded. Application forms available in counseling office. Other documents required include transcript, 2-page essay, and letter of recommendation from teacher. Criteria: Completed application packet, character, financial need, recipients’ goals and objectives, and availability of funds. Send application directly to Financial Aid office at App. Tech. Deadline to apply: April 30, 2010.
Cleo Ingram Nursing Scholarship and Helen E. Roper Nursing Scholarship – both at Appalachian Tech. $500 scholarships. Available to Pickens High graduating seniors planning to enroll full-time in the practical nursing program at App. Tech. or full-time App. Tech students pursuing a career in the practical nursing field. Application forms available in counseling office. Other documents required include transcript, 2-page essay, and letter of recommendation from teacher. B.E.S.T. Scholarship – At Appalachian Tech. Mobley Scholarship – Sponsored by the Georgia Cotton Women. The Mobley Scholarship is present annually to the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of an active Georgia Cotton producer with priority given to children of Georgia Cotton Women members. Eligibility: The student must attend a college in Georgia, A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, Recipients should possess demonstrated leadership potential and participation in organized activities, Must be a entering freshmen or rising sophomores. The committee may interview the top three to five applicants before making the final decision. Application and required documentation is available in the Counseling office. Scholarship application and required documentation must be submitted by May 1, 2010.
B.Davis Scholarship $1,000 The generosity of our site sponsors have allowed us to offer a scholarship to help the students who visit our site. The winner(s) of this scholarship will be notified by email and their name(s) will be shown on this site. This Scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution. There is no age restriction. Be sure to include your name and the school you are attending this year and next. This is not an academic scholarship but we would like to know your current academic standing. Application Procedure To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss whether you believe you possess some or all of these qualities, and describe an experience where you developed and/or demonstrated some or all of these Your submissions must be sent to us by email at awards@studentawardsearch.com DEADLINE: May 28, 2010 League of Champions (Liga de Campeones) $1000 Hispanic Scholarship. Must be Hispanic descent (defined as persons descended from Central America (excluding Belize), Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South America or other Spanish cultures). Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) Must have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale. Must submit a complete and legible scholarship application. The application must be postmarked no later than May 31, 2010 2010 Big Sun Scholarship - $500 scholarship is given to a deserving athlete. All student atheletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Send a short essay answering the following question: How has your participation in sports affected the person you are becoming? All essay submissions should be sent to athleticawards@bigsunathletics.com Deadline is June 24, 2010. American Legion Scholarship – four $1,000 scholarships to be awarded across the state. Must be child or grandchild of a military veteran who is or was a member of an American Legion Post in Georgia. Must be sponsored by an American Legion member. Application form available in counseling office. Requires short essay based on questions from application form. Requires SAT scores, official transcript, and written recommendation from high school principal. Deadline: July 1, 2010. Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarships - $1,000 to $5,000 scholarships. Must be U.S. citizen, resident of GA, enrolled in an engineering or engineering technology ABET-accredited program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or engineering technology. Requires final official transcript in sealed envelope; two letters of recommendation from teachers, employers or mentors; SAT scores; and photograph.
