The Beta Club insignia is composed of the emblem as its central feature, with two additional symbols--a knight's head, and a lettered scroll.
The knight's head was designed to represent nobility of personality in recognizing the inherent dignity of every human being.
The words "Achievement, Character, Leadership" which appear in the scroll beneath the emblem are the cardinal attributes upon which depend membership in the Beta Club.
The scroll itself is derived from usage of the symbol in heraldry, representing part of a knight's tunic which was ripped from him in his combat to defend the right.

Pickens High School BETA Club was chartered during school year 1937-38, making it one of the oldest if not the oldest club at PHS.
Club sponsors are Michelle Richards and Sarah Ballew.
BETA recognizes those students who maintain an overall 90.0 cumulative GPA. Currently there are approximately 135 members.
BETA Club meets monthly, and students may choose to attend either the morning or afternoon meeting each month. Attendance is mandatory, and any BETA member missing more than two meetings is dropped from the roll until next school year. This year's meeting dates (all on Wednesdays) are as follows:
- September 20, 2006
- October 25, 2006
- November 15, 2006
- December 13, 2006
- January 17, 2007
- February 14, 2007
- March 21, 2007
- April 18, 2007
- May 16, 2007
Seniors who are BETA members and maintain eligibility requirements are awarded a gold cord during the graduation exercise. This cord is also worn for the senior cap and gown portrait.
BETA members seek opportunities to serve areas of need both at PHS and within Pickens County. Last year, members were divided into committees for the purpose of taking care of such projects/activities as White Christmas, donations to the Joy House, campus cleanup, teacher assistance, and Christmas caroling at Wildwood Nursing Home.
Projects for the current school year include providing teachers with announcements via e-mail and hard copy for their classes, reinstating student-of-the-month awards, creating bags for the local hospital nursery, and a literacy drive.
BETA members carry out a fundraiser for the purpose of offering a BETA Club Scholarship to be awarded to a deserving senior at Scholarship Night in the spring of each school year.
PHS sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eliglible for membership with a 90.0 average. All members must meet attendance and service project requirements each year to maintain membership.
